Orange County Deputy
The Orange County Sheriff’s Dept. and the FBI’s forensics investigators, including a crime lab in Quantico, Virginia, have assigned top priority to the remains of a child discovered this morning near the home of Casey Anthony and are believed to be those of missing two-year-old Caylee Marie Anthony. The Sheriff’s Department sought a warrant to search the home of George and Cindy Anthony, who have been in in California to appear on Larry King Live last night.
Upon their arrival at the Orlando Airport, the grandparents were whisked away through a side door by deputies and served with search warrants; at this time they are not allowed to return home. Here’s a link to Holly Bristow’s Fox 35 report.
A utility worker, whose name has not been disclosed, discovered the remains in the area less than a quarter of a mile from the home of George and Cindy Anthony at 9:30 this morning. It is still unknown why the meter reader was in the vicinity of remains. The worker was kicking a bag when a small human skull, reported to be bagged and wrapped with duct tape, rolled out onto the ground. A spokesman for the utility company has stated the person has taken time off work in light of the recent events.
Orange county deputies rushed to seal off the crime scene at Chickasaw and Suburban Dr., blocking the intersection of Suburban and Hopespring near the Anthony home.
Captain Angelo Nieves of the sheriff’s office said investigators “right now cannot confirm the sex of the child.” source
“It still feels like she’s, she’s close to home,” Anthony told her brother Lee Anthony in a recorded telephone conversation in July. “That’s still my best feeling at the moment
While watchmen are monitoring Casey’s reactions to today’s breaking news, the relevance of the passcodes given to her family during her initial incarceration have garnered inquisitive discussions today. Many are still trying to decipher why one account was set to “cays234″ and the other to “timmer55.”
Computer forensic detectives discovered searches for “recipes” used in producing chloroform, neck-breaking methods, shovels, and various methods of weaponizing common household products. In addition, a shovel recovered from a neighbor that was originally thought to have been used by Casey to bury Caylee was found to have a hair of unknown origin; it’s DNA match wasn’t even close to the single hair found in Casey’s car trunk.
Former attorney for George and Cindy Anthony released a statement.
“I’ve been expecting this day for a while and although it is a very, very sad day, I think in many ways we can now really pass on our full blessings to this child and allow her to go in the peace that she deserves and allowing her mother to be prosecuted as she deserves,” NeJame said. source

No Smiley Face Now
Jose Baez, attorney for Casey Anthony who was indicted on first degree murder by a grand jury in October, was in court this morning when the news of the discovery broke. Baez sought to postpone the trial date; frustrated by the discovery process within the state of Florida. Baez persuaded Judge Strickland to postpone the trial until March of 2009; it was originally slated for January 5th. Anthony’s counsel has stated that Casey Anthony, who is currently being held at the Orange County jail, is not under a suicide watch.
Todd Black, spokesman for the defense team, stated, “We certainly hope it isn’t [related to the Anthony case],” Black said. “If it is, it is a sad day.” source
The missing child’s grandparents have embarked on a media campaign this week to debunk all reports that their daughter may have killed her only child. Several sightings have been reported since Casey’s claim that she hadn’t seen her daughter since June 9th. Jose Baez has filed motions to view video surveillance tapes of area businesses in which Caylee was reportedly spotted.
Onlookers gathered at the crime scene in the pouring rain voiced varying sentiments:”I’ve watched it on Nancy Grace every night and I’m always thinking ‘When are they going to find her?’ I hope they find her,” said Marcellina Monpalbo, a Westfield Massachusetts resident who was in Orlando visiting relatives.
“What they’ve been through, with all the harassment, it’s hard,” said Nelson Ducos, 49 who lives two miles away from the site. “I feel sympathy for them. I’m a grandparent myself.” source
Since that initial 911 call made on July 15th in which Cindy Anthony claimed her daughter’s car smelled like there had been a dead body in it, media outlets across the nation have headlined the story of the missing child and her mother Casey Anthony, prompting protesters in front of the Anthony home and creating chaos inside the neighborhood. The sheriff’s department installed surveillance cameras to monitor unruly gawkers.
Orange County Sheriff Kevin Beary spoke to reporters about why the body wasn’t discovered earlier:
“Understand this, all of this area, we confirmed with the county, was totally underwater when we started doing all this. We were all over this area several times. But the bottom line is, it was probably underwater.” source
He also stated he didn’t want any craziness around the Anthony home after this discovery. (Click on the Vodpod link for videos of protesters after Casey’s arrest and other related videos).

Caylee Anthony
Tim Miller of Texas Equusearch, with the help of thousands of volunteers, searched relentlessly for Caylee’s body in August and again after the waters of the previous hurricane receded was quoted as saying, “ ‘My prayers go out to the family of the deceased child,” Miller told Investigation Discovery. “I hope they can now come to peace and begin to put back together the pieces of their shattered lives.”” David Lohr
On Miller’s return to the Orlando area, he found that part of the wooded section he had searched before had been fenced off and he wasn’t allowed access to the location for a second search.
Jose Baez reacts to the events of the day-link. Casey Anthony has been sedated after receiving the news of the new found evidence.
Here’s a link to Dalia’s blog-she is updating clips as they come in. There are some with Nancy Grace, Tim Miller, and local press.

I have one question: why did they give casey anthony a sedative? Was she hysterical? I think she should have to feel every single ounce of regret, remorse and grief…not be given xanax to take away any tiny bit of human emotion she might be feelinf after killing her beautiful daughter. She shouldn’t be allowed to numb out.
I think most people feel relieved, and at the same time very sad.
I will wait till all facts come in. As much as we all want this case to be solved one way or another some of the stuff is scary that im reading for instance when the utility worker kicked the bag a schall rolled out and he claimed it was that of a female child with duct tape on the mouth area. how could that even be possible when they said tonight on NG. it would be very hard to determine if it was male or famale after being there that long . there most likely would not be much left maybe a small amount of soft tissue in the nasal passage or elsewhere. They said it would be tough being a small child. if it is true that he could determine it was a girl then how long was that body really there? i would think after 6 months it would be hard to make a accurate statement on any findings until the F.B.I. lab says so.
KC. knows her lies are catching up with her,and she will probably end up alone, even Baez may change his attitude towards her, defending her, but not in the same way as before, not the 100% not guilty kind of defense and maybe not so touchy feely.
Then there is her mom, she will have to face the facts that Caylee is indeed dead, will she still treat KC. the same? Will she believe KC ’s explanation on this, whatever it may be,or will she have nothing more to do with KC?? What about her father? He told the FBI he didn’t want to think he could have raised someone that could or would do something like this to her child? He pretty much knew then but was holding out hope. Will he turn his back on her now? How will Lee react? Her extended family seems to have cut all ties with her when they realized she was probably responsible for whatever had happened to Caylee. She knows her so called friends and boyfriends will abandon her like rats from a sinking ship, that is if she had any left.
Casey is truly Satan’s playmate, and it looks like he may be calling his debts in.She wants to escape through drugs, I agree she should not be given a drug to make her feel better to let her ease whatever it is she is feeling,God only knows what Caylee had to endure the last 31 days of her life?? Unless she is physically ill NO FEEL GOOD DRUGS.
I for one am relieved little Caylee has been found,it would have been a real blessing had she been alive, but that was not to be,it broke my heart to think of that baby out there in the dark, all alone, tossed away like garbage, I said it several times in my comments. God has brought her home in this holy season of the year when we celebrate the birth of the holy child. She will be given a proper funeral and laid to rest. She is already one of Gods little Angels, this will bring closure for her extended family and all those who have shown concern for this innocent child. She touched so many hearts, she was loved by thousands in the end.
As sad as it is, I really do hope it is her. I just want this to be over for everyone so the person responsible *cough* can take her punishment. It’s so sad you know, all the women out there, myself included in that, who can’t have children and would make excellent mothers…who would never do anything like this you know… A person can drive themselves crazy with thoughts like that. Just think…if Cindy had let her give Caylee up for adoption like Casey wanted…she’d still be alive today.
Sooo Sad that Caylee was KILLED by Casey for monetary reasons…Casey IS a convicted liar/cheat…IMO she is the Scum of the Earth!!….Gotta wait for her conviction…lets’s hope it is soon!!!
Okay, I saw on the news that there was an IM from Casey and her ex-boyfriend..it sounds like (Susan Smith case many years ago)..Caylee was going to get in the way of a relationship and see Casey felt that it was going to inhibit her social life (obviously out drinking and grinding is definetly not a grieving mother, but one that thought I better live it up now) Unfortunetly, I feel bad for the parents because you believe your child would never do anything. I believe that she killed Caylee because of the interference of her social life and she wouldn’t give her to the mom/dad (grandparents) because then to her being the narcisstic person she is would have lost, which those individuals like being in control.
I am not downgrading the grandparents, but I can’t imagine a grandparent not seeing or talking to their grandchild in a month…guess I was raised different. Plus, I am sorry I am going to meet anyone who is watching my grandchild and background that person. I just hope everyone gets closure in this case.
Ashley-I had not heard that the utilty worker said it was the skull of a female. Maybe there was enough soft tissue left that the long hair was still attached? Also, how could the duct tape still be in place if the tissue unndereath of it had decomposed?
Does anyone know who the father or Caylee is? If so, where is he????
stephanie, I don’t think the justice system was intended to be used as a torture method. If your appendix were ruptured they can’t just let you lay there and thrash about.
topcat…yes, closure would be great!
ashley…they can say anything they like, be it true or false…who are THEY anyways? That’s why I’m not a bandwagon person.
Mand…no parent wants to think they are responsible for a degenerate. I don’t think my dog will bite; everyone else is petrified!
Narcissus..hindsight is 20/20, isn’t it?
Jill…I don’t know how you figured Caylee was killed for monetary reasons…please explain.
Sherri…it sounds like anyone that wasn’t plugged into her cell phone would have be an intrusion!
Lucia…expert pundits speculating again…keeps them in the limelight. Ashley was reading the various interpretations of the day’s find.
The only thing I can say is – I hope this is the end to a tragedy for the grandparents. This has gone on too long. I know they are in denial, so they need closure. As for Casey, I have no use for her. She is a habitual liar!!! May she rot in jail.
This is such a sad case. What a beautiful little girl. All I can say is God Bless Little Caylee. Rest in peace sweetheart.
I just don’t understand what a “meter reader” for utilities was doing 60 feet into the brush and trees…????
This is so typical of past cases: Susan Smith and Peterson.
Neither one of them went out to search for their victums.
The previous post is right – she wanted to give Caylee up for adoption, but Cindy said NO! She would be alive today.
She would not have to endured the cruel and unbelievable
torture of being thrown in a car trunk – doped and taped.
God, I can’t imagine doing that to an animal. I also think Lee is in such a state of unbelief he can’t function. It will be interesting to see how they all act at the funeral. I had 3 little girls and would have naturally lost my mind if they were ever to disappear. Have you ever heard any of the Anthonys say “we love her sooooo much? I never have heard the word “LOVE”.
